01The living room
A living room in warm low light with a linen sofa, a walnut chest and candles

Where the day slows down

Low light,
long evenings.

Deep sofas in washed linen, a walnut chest worn smooth by hands, and lime-plastered walls that turn gold at the end of the afternoon.

02The bedroom
A whitewashed bedroom under old wooden beams with a deep-set window

Under the old beams

Shutters open
to the cypresses.

Chestnut beams left as the builders found them, plaster that stays cool in August, and nothing on the walls that would compete with the view.

03The kitchen
A country kitchen with tall walnut dressers, a tiled splashback and a range cooker

The heart of the house

Made for long
Sunday lunches.

Walnut dressers built to the room, a range that can feed the whole family, and handmade tiles from a kiln outside Vietri.

04The bathroom
A bathroom with a deep stone tub beneath a roof light and a hand-laid stone wall

Stone, water and light

A bath beneath
the morning sky.

Stone laid by hand, a deep tub you can sink into to the shoulders, and a roof light that lets the morning in before anyone is awake.
